Citynoise is showcasing a collection of colour transparencies from the early 1900's. I don't know what's more amazing - the fact that this is a view of the world 100 years ago and how much like it is today - or how different it is.
The national costumes are all gone, but the faces look familiar. Some of them look like Great Master paintings - others as if they were taken yesterday.
The image quality is superb, considering how primitive colour photography was then, and although some are retouched - others still have their true colours. Really astonishing stuff.
