Important note for all students.

The computers in FDA Graphics are all installed, networked and up and running, they are brand new iMacs with larger screens than the ones you are used to, up to date software including more extensive software packages than the old one at Archery Road. Because of the scale of the computer network at the new college and the numerous other computers you have access to, and various other things that I'll talk to you about on your first day - I strongly recommend you keep all your work on a portable hard drive ( NOT a USB key ) and keep it with you at all times - or use 3rd party online storage - like dropbox. I also suggest you keep your own mouse mat - they cost nothing and you have computer access all over the college - I said this last year until I was blue in the face - nothing looks more ridiculous than a graphics student struggling to use a computer because the optical mouse wont work on the desk - all the desks are brand new bright white melamine - your mouse WILL NOT WORK ON THEM without a mouse mat.

Also - because they are brand new iMacs - THERE IS NO FIREWIRE INPUT!!!!! - so make sure you have an adapter or a suitable cable, see below.
